This Privacy Notice explains how Screen Signals handles information when an adult parent, legal guardian, creator, or other adult uses the public Screen Signals service. Screen Signals is not intended for children to operate.
1. Information we collect
Creator searches and assessment requests
When you search for a YouTube creator, we process the creator name, handle, channel URL, or channel identifier needed to return catalog matches or confirm a public YouTube channel. We record limited request and status information needed to build the public assessment, prevent duplicate work, measure reliability, and protect provider budgets.
Technical information
We may process IP address, browser and device information, request logs, page paths, referring domain, error information, and a one-way network hash used for rate limiting, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention. First-party product events may record actions such as starting a creator search, choosing a result, opening a public guide, or requesting a new assessment. They do not intentionally record a child’s name, account, viewing history, or private family report.
Support information
When an adult contacts support, we receive the information they choose to include in their email and related correspondence. The site has no contact forms and sends no automated email. Please do not submit unnecessary child information, passwords, payment-card information, or private account credentials.
Visitor analytics
Google Analytics records visitor activity to help us understand use of the public site. The site does not store a separate visitor-event history in its application database. Recent engine events support abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
2. How we use information
We use information to search and assess public YouTube creators, publish and maintain public rating pages, answer support and correction requests, prevent abuse, protect daily provider budgets, understand service reliability, comply with law, and improve the public resource.
3. Service providers
Screen Signals uses Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting, databases, bot protection, and delivery; Google Analytics for visitor analytics; YouTube and supported public-data providers for channel and video information; Supadata for supported YouTube metadata and transcript services; and OpenRouter and selected model providers for automated analysis of public video evidence. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.
4. Public creator information
Creator pages are based on public YouTube channel and video information, including public names, handles, thumbnails, links, titles, descriptions, available transcripts, review dates, and derived ratings. A public assessment request can result in a new indexable Screen Signals creator page.
5. Disclosure and retention
We disclose information to service providers working for us, when you direct us to, to protect the security and rights of users or others, during a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards, or when required by law. We retain creator research and public assessment records while they support the catalog. Technical, security, and support records are retained as reasonably needed for their stated purposes and legal obligations.
6. Your choices and rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with a support message or other identifiable interaction by emailing kevin@kevinwimer.com. We may need to verify your identity. Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply.
7. Children’s privacy
Screen Signals is designed for adult parents and legal guardians. Children must not submit searches, assessment requests, support messages, or other information. The service does not ask parents to create child accounts or submit a child’s YouTube viewing history.
8. Security, location, and changes
We use safeguards intended to protect the service and its records, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Screen Signals is operated in the United States, and providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. We may update this notice as the service changes and will post the revised date.
